The original Bait-X was the first plastic bait ever made by Megabass back in the 1980s. The key concept behind the Bait-X was for it to be able to stick around on mid-depth structure, obstructions and rugged bottom as well by tapping (knocking, pecking) against them persistently, so as to imitate crawfish or baitfish that are trying to escape from predators by trying to hide in the structure or by hunkering down on the bottom.

The modern Bait-X is a new, revised model of Bait-X that has retained this original concept as its key, yet it has been completely updated with the Moving Balancer System of the Deep-X Series, along with a Water-Intake Lip and Hydro-Diffusing Body. Designed into each side of the lip, there are funnel-shaped water intake slots that channel water through small holes in the lip.

When you target fish that relate to structures such as riprap, laydowns and rock slides, ordinary crankbaits will move past the target zone too fast. The Bait-X is designed to linger in or on those kinds of structure and bottom, to keep tapping them with its lip, and to naturally appeal to the finicky bass that relate to these structures.

Equipped with Katsuage Treble Hooks. Megabass original Katsuage hooks have an out-barb, out-point and are wide gap with a 'near-center' seat for the hook to stay pinned.
