The Fat Free Guppy BD5M is just the right size for most crankbait situations. The Guppy covers water in the 4 to 6 foot range, and works best with 10 or 12 pound test line. It will cast farther and dive deeper with even lighter line (8 lb, test).
Note that the BD5M Guppy's body size and weight is similar to the BD5F Fingerling. So there are two Fat Frees that are similar in size, except for their lips and therefore, diving depths. The BD5M Guppy dives 4-6 feet whereas the BD5F Fingerling dives 8-10 feet. Between the two, you can cover a lot of water. Also note that the Guppy has a little wider wobble than other Fat Free models because of the Guppy's shorter, fatter lip.
The Guppy is very effective around rocks and stumps because of its deflective nature.
